How music has helped me grow as a person?
Introduction
Music: the process of using vocal, instrumental sounds or both combined to produce a beautiful composition with a powerful theme and melodious harmony. How do these sounds have such a profound impact on our lives? Well, I don’t know about you, but this one word has definitely changed me, and this is what I will be writing about today: how music has changed me.
#1 Helps me find my passion
I was in the GIS choir in PYP, and I started learning and practicing Indian classical music in grade 2. Since then, I have enjoyed learning and practicing this art as it has given me satisfaction and explored my interests further in the field. The joy of singing or playing an instrument cannot be explained in a two-liner, and I bet all the GIS musicians will agree with me on this.
#2 A good relaxation
Whenever I feel nervous or angry about something, I just hum the tune of a catchy song or start singing and that does the trick, I feel more relaxed and confident. I’ve heard from reputed sources like BBC, and the Frontier’s organization, that singing helps release endorphins and a hormone called oxytocin which relieves stress. Though, I’ve truly felt the effect of it now. You can sing any time or anywhere your anxiety levels will definitely go down.
#3 Helps me connect with people
Music has helped me meet more people as I’ve met a lot of people in the PYP choir, and made great friends in the place I learn Indian classical music. In fact, the first thing my friends and I do when meeting up is to listen to songs or sing. Music is really important to me.
Conclusion
I personally think that music is extremely important in our lives, and I would really want to explore more in music. I wrote this piece because I wanted everyone out there who is interested in music but afraid to sing or play because they might sound ‘bad’ to give music a try, as it will definitely boost their morale.
