BMW X5

Written, Edited and Pictures Taken By: Gowtham Rajesh

The new redesigned BMW X5 (G05) has been a deal-breaker for previous owners. Better engines, new looks, new interior and new Driving Dynamics. But is it the right Performance SUV? Or are you better off with a GLE, Cayenne or even a Q7? Well, let's find out!

Interior

The interior in this BMW X5 is amazing! It kicks the Q7 out of the park and the best part is that it believes in the BMW pedigree. The BMW Pedigree is basically stating that BMW’s are drivers cars. The dual-screen setup has been slightly angled to the driver. In the centre console, you will find the Crystal Gear Selector (Real Swarovski Crystals), your driving modes and your camera views. Just below the main screen, you can find the Climate Controls. This is also displayed in a small screen below and it looks amazing. When you turn off the A/C, the screen turns off to prevent cluttering. The

front seats are really comfortable and are made out of real cow leather. They are also heated,

cooled and massaged. When you jump at the back of the X5, you immediately feel the comfort. The armrest is a bit hard but has storage space to store your USB-C cables which can plug right into the back of the front seats for charging.

Exterior

The exterior lines on the BMW X5 are really nice. The front grille looks nice and is not too big like the X7. The LED lights (This Unit was not equipped with LaserLights) are very bright and have active high beam assist. The tailgate is split and it is 2 way electric. Meaning the top and bottom parts are electrically operated. The engine is a 3.0 litre inline 6 with 8-speed transmission is capable of performing 617 HP and 750-newton metres of torque.

Verdict

Overall, the BMW X5 is a great performance SUV. However, if you are looking for an SUV that can provide extra luxury but less performance, the GLE is the right choice. If you want a very basic performance SUV that does not have much performance or luxury, get the Audi Q7. If you want an SUV that has good performance and a decent amount of luxury, get the Cayenne. But, if you are looking for a slightly more reliable German performance SUV that also has a good amount of Luxury with outstanding performance, a fun SUV that can easily carry 5 people, have space for tons of cargo and can turn into a monster when you hit that Sport Plus button, the BMW X5 is for you.
